These are a few of my favorite things

I got a very fun package the other day. My aunt made these lovely stained glass bowls for me, so unique and perfect for my red, black and white kitchen!

When we were in New Mexico, my Grandmother gave us girls each a set of her hand-made dishcloths - so durable and soft! I love 'em!

And, last, but not least, this wine had us in stitches. It was a winner taste-wise as well.

H-2-OH

Y'all heard the news? A great part of Texas is a big swimming pool right now. Fortunately, we've not been hit as hard as Marble Falls , but, we've had some high waters.

After dinner tonight, we drove over to a low water crossing area to survey the river. Though the rain has ceased for the moment, as you can see, the waters are still holding the road captive.

Mini Me

Isn't it cute!? This camera is smaller than my flip cellphone!
I bought it from a gadget-vendor in my office building - I got two of these for $20! Each came with software, a tiny battery, a pc hook-up cord, and a black storage case! And, it really does take pictures!!!

Tis the Season

Ahhh, the wedding season. . .

Thank goodness the WE channel has a twisted sense of humor, or, maybe, just the ability to bring to light what really goes on underneath the veil.

Two Shows: Bridezilla & Platinum Weddings.

While I myself find it hard to believe that I am attached to these shows like they were LOST or 24 . . . (wait, do I even really need to defend myself)

Okay, HANDS DOWN, they are pure amusement.
Sometimes the brides can be brats (see 'zilla), or just plain snobbishly spoiled (Plat'num). Its sometimes really funny to see how blimpishly inflated
one day can become.

I get a good laugh, and tuck away some fond memories. (Bridezilla took off the summer I was engaged, and my best friend and I huddled around the tv while we tore out pages in wedding mags) .
Now, I am watching it keeping my best friend in mind, as she walks down the aisle this August.

Pretty darn funny

Hi-Lo

It seems like ages since I have posted. (I think that am spotting some mold around the edges of this monitor ;)

I am trying to get over a bug as quickly as humanly possible before a new week begins. It seems a rather helpless struggle against a matter of hours, but, I am trying. We whisked back home right after church (for fear of contaminating a large body of dear fellow Christians). Let's just say that pink eye and flu-like symptoms are a deadly mix in a social setting).

Sleeping, drinking mass quantities of iced water, & bridezilla episodes have characterized my lazy day. Hubby certainly gets the prize for being an excellent nurse and handy man while I've been under-the-weather. After a 3 hour nap, I wandered downstairs at 7:20 this evening to find a white-washed and freshly painted bathroom, weeded garden, clean patio chairs, and Caesar salads from HEB on the table. What a guy.

I never have any excuse to complain :)

***While we were in New Mexico, my talented and wonderful grandmother gave each of her granddaughters a stained glass jewelry box, each unique and with her trademark butterfly :)

Doesn't she do beautiful work?

Master Bath pics

Okay, finally time to post a couple of pics of the master bath (even though it is still not quite finished yet). I have some last things to do for the tub area ;)
I realize that the brown actually looks a little yellowish in this picture . . . ummm . . . it is darker, I promise-you-chocolate-brownie-coffee-brown.

Home

A tad bit delayed, but just in time for a night's sleep, a quick morning, pushed out the door with coffee in hand, greeting a new day warming up to a toasty 100 degrees. . .

Yes . . . we are home. We rescued our pup from a backyard of boredom, and I managed to unpack everything from my suitcase and get ready for this day. Amazing. . .

I honestly don' t know how to explain our trip. It was a good time, make no mistake, I just feel like I need a little bit of time to replay what happened. There seems to be a lot of intricacies that come with having a blended family.
While those thoughts are baking, the upper crust of crusts was holding and loving my nephew. He is the best. . . and almost ready to crawl, I can't believe it! :)

I'll share some more special trip happenings & pics later - gotta shower and watch some Simpsons ;)

15 June 2007

You say hello, and I say goodbye . . .

This will be a late night full of packing and getting ready for our trip to New Mexico for a family reunion. Whew - its been quite a week! The NBA finals (= LATE NIGHTS! ;) Work busy-ness, family happenings, and some exciting decisions and opportunities have left us with a big adrenaline rush.

It is only a matter of time until we crash ;)

We'll be back on Monday - sadly missing our wonderful church & a Spurs victory parade at the riverwalk ;(

Have a wonderful weekend, and a blessed Father's Day!

Winners!!!

WOOOHOOO!!!

Win 3, Go for 4!!!

I don't have to mention this as if the play-offs are unheard of, but, what the heck. . .

GO SPURS GO!!!

Of things I cannot say

Many things are left unwritten, and it may be better that way. The secrets of the heart are even deeper than one can ever know. There are things we yearn to tell, and yet, we smooth them over with patience and wisdom. I am not talking about our sins, or related struggles that we may have. I am speaking in terms of longings and dreams, hopes, kites on strings, etc.

What if we sliced our hearts open, and shared these things? What if we all 'came clean', brought ourselves to disclose the hopes that we tuck inside? Why do we armor ourselves anyway? Why do we fortress these dreams? What if we tore those walls down, and allowed others to see what was inside. What a fearful proposal - what uncommon strength that would take.

What brought this on?

I feel like God has brought me to my knees in so many areas lately. It wouldn't take a genius to figure me out, but all this to say, through opening myself up to others, I have felt the arms of Jesus being wrapped around my struggling soul, with warming encouragement and love. Moments when you are caught off guard can be opportunities for great humility. The strength that I try to muster to keep these walls up is completely weak. And yet, when I am stripped bare, He clothes me in His grace, and when I am most weak, He makes me strong.

Thank you dear brethren, for the ministers of grace and hope you are to me. May my heart seek to be just as loving.

Game 1: IN THE BAG!!!

05 June 2007

Here goes . . .

"Charging" into another day; yeah right, I feel more like this dog ;) - I would rather crawl back into bed and sleep a couple more hours. We'll muddle through somehow. . .

Coffee, down the hatch. . .

02 June 2007

Yeah baby, its summer!

Hector's having a pool party! ;)

Summer Nights

The past two weekends we have been having fun around downtown San Antonio. Long weekdays sort of lend themselves to a desire for relaxing rambles down at the riverwalk ;) And, last night, we enjoyed a night of Shakespeare, under the stars for the 'Taming of the Shrew'.

(You can see production photos here)

These are pics from the riverwalk. We did a little adventuring in a different section, visiting the new Aztec theater. It was so cool that we decided that we need to go back and actually see a movie there someday :)
