Sabotaged

Sometimes, you just CAN'T win . . .

I worked out this morning - an hour and 15 min. of good, slow burn; aerobics, pilates, and plenty of sweat.

Man, I felt strong - with a good heart-healthy breakfast, 2 tall glasses of water and 2 vitamins, I was off to work (felt like I was off to the races).

And then, today of all days, my dear co-worker decided to bring in a pan of fresh-baked, soft and cakey brownies . . .

Sigh . . .

Strawberries and Sunsets

I made chocolate-dipped strawberries this past weekend. Accompanied by brownies, we had some sweet post-Valentine's treats. . .

But the sweetest thing was this stunning sunset we saw on our walk :)

Buh-Bye Energy Bean

Well, I've given it up . . .
The energy bean, I mean . . . caffeine.

What? Huh? Cold Turkey???

Yep

I realized how much I consumed each day, and I know that it hasn't helped me. I already survived the day one (the worst!) and day 2 has been so much better. I feel so good. I have been drinking juice and ice water, and enough tea to make me have to use the facilities at least 15 times a day.

What I wanted to know when I first started this was, were there any exceptions?

Yes - Sunday morning - coffee with caffeine. And chocolate has NOT been eliminated. My body would go into too much shock if I did that. I am severely cutting back though.

We'll see how this goes -
in the meantime, my coffee cup is empty and my teacup is full :)

Girl, put your records on!

(To quote m'dear Corrine Bailey Rae)

More like 'Girl, put your bloggin' on!'

Excuse my absence. Excuse this spurt of random-ness. I guess that I am just so happy to be sitting down and actually blogging again, that I have lost my mind
(what else is new, and hey, no comments from my little peanut gallery on that ;) - yes, I mean you, WILL & JULIA) ;0) (-:

Well, here's the what's up 'round here. . . Haven is going to be leaving for Pennsylvania Monday morning (or, perhaps, late Sunday night). This project is a big cahoona - its actually the Hershey's cocoa plant that they'll be working on :) -
Hmm, maybe I can wrangle some free chocolate out of the deal (I mean, after all, I am giving up my hubby for several weeks. . . ;)

We enjoyed spending some of the fruits of Haven's labor this week, with upgrading our ancient cellphones to new, sleek ones. . . & they are camera phones :) and yes, we finally got text messaging! WOHOO. Oh, and mine is pink ;)

Okay, so we just got back from seeing the Simpsons movie - pretty silly stuff. My DH was pretty amazed at all the new and funny lines. You'd think that things with the Simpsons would get a little stale after all these years, but that Matt Groening is kind of a genius at putting out hilarious material.

Tomorrow is the beginning of a new BSF year in the book of Matthew. Training is going to be all morning, and then we start our class the Tuesday after Labor Day - I am going to be leading in the Children's ministry this year, which is really exciting & altogether overwhelming at the same time. . . I was able to rearrange my work schedule a little bit to get a couple of hours off in the middle of each day to be able to prepare. I am encouraged at how God covers a fretful soul with peace!

Someday I will get my camera from my parents - here's a little snap of us from our trip :)

I think I am going mad . . .

Its 11:30pm and I am having a chocolate attack. I am thinking, and envisioning inhaling and eating CHOCOLATE. . .

All of the sudden, I am craving a wooden spoon gooped in brownie batter. I am smelling an imaginary chocolate cake rising in my oven and my mouth is watering. I am closing my eyes and pretending that I am biting down on a dark chocolate bar, and the million tiny taste buds on my tongue are having a party like its going out of style.

Alas, my private stash is dreadfully low. Dash it all! My hubby is not here to rescue me. HEB is closed. The gas station down the street doesn't have the right kind of chocolate, plus, there are creeps out there.

BLAST . . . self control, self control, BREATH, deeply, inhale, exhale, its time to go to bed anyway. . .

I was 'sistered'

Yesterday, after a long day at work, I went home to find my two lovely sisters, warming my home with succulent smells. My oven was cooking red bell peppers, each stuffed with a medley of rice, chicken seasoned in garlic, some onion and other tantalizing flavors. A beautiful table was quickly set and pita bread with garlic hummus and sprigs of rosemary and fresh herbs topped it off, not to mention glass cups full of strawberries and milk chocolate for dessert. And don't forget the sparkling water ;)

We savored each bite and then went to see License to Wed - purely stupid, don't bother - although, then again, it was pretty funny ;)

Girls, I love you both

THANK YOU

You minister to me in so many ways!

Paint

We like color - we just added two more colors to our house palette. . . a coffee brown and fern green are now adorning our master bathroom. I have great visions of creating a lovely escape in there. Cattails and ferns, vanilla, and some sheer curtains . . . Ooo la la . . .

GREAT ESCAPE ;)

My hubby is off to get a Harvest wheat frozen pizza - (MMMmmm good)

Oh yeah - and some brownie mix for chocolate cravings. ;)

Happy Sabbath evening and Memorial Day Weekend :)

Oh, just braggin' ;)

My husband just came up and spoon-fed me some of his cookie dough. . . he must have sensed the chocolate craving pulsing through my veins.

What a guy.

Tuck in

Last night was a messy night. Did you read the news about the insane tornado that ripped through parts of Texas last night?

We were lucky to not have the storm get that worse in this neck of the woods. It was a wild night here though. Hail, violent winds, and rain in unmerciful torrents. At one point, I grabbed the dog and my cellphone and we huddled in the 1/2 bath downstairs. 4 hours later, It finally passed over and I managed to squeeze in 2+ hours of sleep.

So, I should be sleeping. I was watching a really stupid movie (Marie Antoinette) and eating some dark chocolate. Right as I turned down the lights and my bed covers, a lark starting singing loudly outside the window. . . at midnight.

Good grief - maybe its singing lullabies to restless babies. I dunno. I am going to try this sleep thing again though. Cheers.

Kat - if you are reading this, you are the best ;)

Thank you for treating all of us :)

Chocolate Newsflash

Last night, my hubby indulged me by satisfying a two-day-old-fudge-sundae-craving at Sonic.

We tried the new Hot Fudge Oreo Sundae Shake - ummm. There were not enough oreos, and what meager o's were there were drowned by the vanilla icecream overload. Just thinking about it is making my head spin again. . . dreadful.

More depressing updates: our chocolate supply is completely gone. We are absolutely gonna starve . . .
