Whisked & Refreshed

UPDATE :)

Haven is a winner - we went to Boerne on Friday and stayed at the Crescent Quarters Inn

It was a much needed mini-vacation, filled with the perfect amount of sleeping in, eating, and browsing around charming downtown. The weather was breezy and cool, with a tid bit of rain, and a few puddles here and there - perfect!

Haven bought me this pewter bread plate at the pewter store while we were there - (Mom, recognize it ;)? She has the same one).

I love being surprised - What a special time, thank you Honey!

We stayed in the French Room :)

My hubby surprised me yesterday with an early birthday gift . . . he told me that he wanted to take me to the hill country tonight! He cheated and told me where we would be staying. . . but, I am still so excited. The last time we tried to get away (to Dallas, for a F0rmula One race), our car coughed up some problems and we only made it to Austin.

:) I'll bring my camera -

Cheers!

The little ways you love me

are the best. . .

Happy Mother's Day to you dear mother's out there, including (and most importantly, my own dear mom, and two precious grandmothers :)

~ Something Sweet ~

My hubby has remembered me each of these past three mother's days that we have been together. . . even though I am not yet a mother. . .
But that doesn't dissuade him in giving me a lovely mother's day card - He loves to encourage me that someday I will be a mother, and for that, he loves me even more. For this time in-between, I am always thankful.

Thank you honey, I'll make you a proud daddy someday :)

Oh, just braggin' ;)

My husband just came up and spoon-fed me some of his cookie dough. . . he must have sensed the chocolate craving pulsing through my veins.

What a guy.

Sleep-in Saturday?

After a long & particularly stressful week for us, we were looking forward to some log-sawing this morning. . .
I was awakened by our 11 month old whining for love and attention. . . this dog is currently our future 'baby training' I guess - although, you can't exactly put your baby outside and leave him ;)

Well, anyway. . . it was 5:30 am - dog was whining and barking and yipping, a combination not very conducive to sleeping in. Groggily, I let Hector out - loved him up with belly scratching, ear-rubbing, and squeaky toying. . . I put a smear of peanut butter in his Zoink (its a kong, basically) and tucked him back in for at least a few more hours of sleepytime. . . (please).
Half an hour later, the interest he had in the zoink had dissapated - he is quickly finding a way to lick all the peanut butter out in 10 minutes. . .
Hubby did the duty this time - he just put him outside and gave him an early breakfast. . . I didn't hear any more peeps after that.

The next time I woke up, I was alone in bed and it was 9am. . . hmmm. . . I wandered downstairs to find my industrious hubby making waffles - oops. . . I stumbled upon breakfast in bed. . . I went back upstairs and waited till minutes later, hubby arrived with steaming cups of coffee, and plates of heart-shaped waffles - ahh. . . he's such a romantic. . .

We are doing some yard work & I am uploading pics from last night's event. . .

You make me laugh

After glancing at the red table runner I had laid on the dining table, my DH sheepishly grinned and remarked that runners were like 'thong underwear for tables'. . .

I don't know if I will ever think about table linens the same again.
